BLV on the other hand, has more flights a week than I can believe. It is insane it hasn't been made one given how busy it is. I just don't get it. Apparently we built that terminal and the entire show is ours over there, so I dunno. Hopefully soon. But as someone said, none of this really matters unless we start hiring again. As of now its just reshuffling the deck chairs...
I used to think they wouldn't do BLV because nobody would go there but seeing some of the current bids it looks like some people will take anything just to upgrade. There isn't crap for 30 miles around unless you're a farmer. They'll have to beg FOs to go there. Or force new hires. Except you and a few others from STL.
MCI is a large underserved city. Lots of gates available and city probably willing to subsidize it. We do go there from many bases.
But yeah it's reshuffling the deck chairs. New jets are arriving but block hours are coming from other bases. PIE is down 900 from the same month last year. GRR is going to take some great block trips from IWA and the Florida bases. SAV is going to take a lot of productive inside turns from other bases. Seems the company knows they're maxed out in the big FL hubs and we are going to see most growth in the midwest now.
My money is on BLV and MCI. RFD and SGF wouldn't surprise me either.
The secret formula is a city or state willing to subside service. That's their biggest factor now in new bases.
