Location does matter to some.

I picked the MD-88 - first to pick - because I wanted to be ATL-based and have the fastest movement - Salt Lake City would not have been an easy commute for me and even though AE's are more frequent and they may have been in the past, you never know when you're not going to get the base assignment you want... still have to get to work.

This class had a ton of people living in the ATL/southeast US area. Only 2 west coat guys (#3 and 24)

Totally, more a comment on how the demographics played out in a class of 24 that didn't want a westerly base with 'desired' airframe. I stayed on reserve for years at my old shop so I could drive to work, certainly understand that.
