Heard next weeks class is the last, but everything is constantly changing.

Honestly, if I were someone who:
  • had a CJO in hand,
  • am currently at a regional with a bit of seniority, and
  • was hanging on to find out whether I was going to get hired or not,
...I'd be hoping for them to postpone classes. I know everyone wants to be at the big D, but I'd rather have a job with some seniority than resigning and coming here and constantly wondering whether you'll still have a job in a couple months. It'd certainly be a lot less stressful to have Delta make that decision for me than being forced into making it myself.

If they are going to park 300 A/C, that is pretty drastic.

This is exactly the decision I am going through. Supposed to start training next Monday, currently 30% at my regional and LCA. I have no clue what to do.

Sorry to hear about your situation. It certainly sucks. Not a popular answer....but it depends a lot on your personal situation. If I had a family to support I would lean toward staying where you are at for the time being. The amount of stress involved with losing your job with a few thousand other airline pilots and trying to replace your income within a few weeks can be catastrophic ...nothing I would wish on anyone. Delta probably won’t have the answers you require in the next week. Best of luck.

Define park.

We parked 100% after 9-11.

Every night we park 90% of our domestic fleet.

We parked 727's almost 2 decades ago that are still parked.

And while we're at it, also define A/C.

RJ's? Slightly earlier retirement of 88's? Obviously the NBA charter planes for now.

In all fairness no one probably knows and anything could happen at this point. Any guess right now is just a guess and since there are so many guesses then later some will turn out to have been correct.

I wouldn't want to be on the bottom of any list right now.

Was top 30% at my regional. Now bottom 1% here. Started in February. Haven’t gone more than an hour thinking of what I’m going to do when I’m furloughed. I have a child, one on the way, and my wife stays at home now. What compounds the situation is having to drop over $2,000 between lodging, uniform, food, etc. for training. All while taking a large pay hit for training pay and small hit for first year pay. I feel helpless as I know it’s a question of not if, but when furloughs come.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I know there are some precarious situations out there and I appreciate you sharing your details. I'm all in to help every Delta pilot in whatever way I can. Clearly, I hope furloughs don't happen at all. I suspect more will be known in the next two weeks, but I know that's no comfort. Good luck to you, brother.
