Wow. I am not a pilot (72 yrs old) but have been an aviation enthusiast for all my life. I come to this forum often to read the interesting messages, so I assume by some posts here I should just mind my own business and stay away. I certainly don't mean to intrude on anyone's private messages. I still get a thrill every time I fly, and still look up when any aircraft passes overhead. I envy those who still enjoy their flying careers. The others, well, maybe they picked the wrong career.

Now stop dreaming and start doing! At 72 you're plenty young enough to go get your private pilot cert, and then you can fly to your heart's content. I trained one guy who was 80 when he started...

My daughter completed her flight instructor hours and is starting to interview with regionals... the first one is Sky West. Can someone please detail the steps in the process, let's assume she gets a job offer-- what happens next? Ground school? How long? Uninterrupted or breaks in between? They told her ground training is 10 weeks...Do pay & benefits kick in immediately after signing new hire paperwork? (i.e., does she get paid, etc during ground school?) Then something called IOE? That is 90 days, correct? She said she wants to fly the ERJ?
Sorry for all the questions.. we are a non-pilot family.. so all this is new and my wife and I want to understand all aspects of her career. Thank you..
