2-4 day trips all look remarkably similar. 4 legs per day is typical, though anywhere from 2-4 are possible (the ERJ doesn't generally see the 5-6 leg days that the CRJ 200s sometimes see). Locals (1-day trips) tend to be a couple of out-and-backs ("turns" in the vernacular), multi-day trips tend to flow through other domiciles, not returning to home base til the last day. Lastly, are "Continuous Duty Overnights", aka "standups", which are the last flight out to an outstation and the first flight back in the morning. Not long enough on the ground to constitute a legal rest period, so you're considered on duty the entire time. These tend to go either very junior or very senior, depending on domicile. Whether certain types of pairings go junior or senior largely depends on the percentage of commuters in a given domicile; commuters generally prefer 3-4 day trips, people who live in base tend to prefer locals, standups or 2-3 day trips.
As a junior lineholder, you'll get the scraps, the pairings people don't want--usually for reasons like long duty days, long sits between legs (particularly at outstations), inefficient/low-paying pairings, or uncommutable report/release times. A junior line usually includes 4-6 days on, 1-4 days off, with a total of generally 12-16 days off per month, depending on seniority and bidding preference.
Opinions on favorite layovers are as varied as our crews. Generally has to do with quality & amenities of the hotel, the distance to the hotel from the airport, the quality of the breakfast, proximity to restaurants/recreation, etc. I'm based out west, where the perennial favorites include SBP, SBA, PHX (in winter), PSP (in winter), BUR, LGB, SNA, SAN, YVR, JAC. My personal favorites back east have included SAT, ORD, DFW, AUS, MEM, YYZ.

Thanks for the insight on what these schedules look like. There are a lot of us wondering.

Staybridge suites, on Tower road. It's about a 5 minute walk to flight safety.

well. Truth is truth. I know three that got hogan invites. So excited they were. Then they got shot down and the refrain became “well, I never wanted to go there anyway”. Then SWA calls and they hire them and suddenly it’s “their dream job”. Yeah. Right. It’s a runner up job consolation prize. Fact.
