Corrected it for you..

5 years from now. ... “what’s latency””

this will be like asking your FO what “SCF” is. They hammered that so hard. Now its a thing of the past...

I guarantee that if people "obtain necessary clearance" like it says to in the SOP, this wouldn't even be an issue. When I was a FO I flew with CAs here that would drop the brake the second the door closed and then call for clearance, and others that called for clearance and dropped it once they received clearance, and a couple in between, call for clearance and basically drop it some time between calling for clearance and receiving it.

I wait until I receive clearance before pushing, and I have never heard a single word from the CPO about me having latency issues.

I love that they post a list in the crew rooms. Makes it easy for F/Os to figure out who to bid avoid!

Kinda got a wire or two crossed their captain 👨🏻*✈️

I’ll explain that pushback section makes no mention of brake release or door closure or “block out” or taxi under own power. Not to mention you may have flown a place or two where the concourse is a non movement area and no ramp control. Or maybe you’ve had a lektro cart which sop dictates brake release prior to initiating the sop pushback processes.
A conservative calculation is that you’ve been giving yourself a $1000 pay cut each year by not blocking out when SOP allows. Wow. Latency has been a thing for a while yet no TR to the SOP, only emails.
I’m sure all the FOs love your SOPs.
LGA is closing

I call for clearance. Ramp says “stand by for traffic, I’ll call you back”. That’s a clearance. Brake release!

Yeah. Pay attention to what Delta and SkyWest release. All 70/76 seat flying is being transferred to Republic out there. It’s not a secret.
