Default DFW

Not trying to start rumors here just curious. I’ve noticed DFW staffing for reserves seems to be (on the FO side) more than other bases. Curious why this might be? Seems like I see more dropped pairings there in open time than other bases. Just an observation. Wondering why we have it that way versus other bases.

This has been covered many times in different places..
It’s “pre-staffing” for work that we have coming online in the future.
Plus they have to put all the new people somewhere!

It’s rarely an accident.
Either aircraft acceptance rate over time will be greater than the school house can handle with attrition.
Or something new fell through.

Go read or listen to the last earnings call. 10 -700’s go into service for American in early 2020.

Will do, thanks! That would explain it.... I just was surprised on the levels of staffing compared to other bases. Thanks again.

When I transferred here, I thought I wouldn't fly at all with so many reserves but si far I've been used every single day

That's great to hear, as a brand new guy to the line can I expect the same? Fly everyday? I want to work. Also how long can I expect to be on reserve in DFW?

Nobody knows what can be expected, this changes all the time. I've heard around 6 months on reserve here in DFW. There are other bases more junior if looking to work harder.

Former 121 here with more than 1K hours...start Basic Indoc soon. Want DFW base to avoid a commute. I really don't care to spin my wheels as SIC, though...where can I go to fly the least until upgrading into DFW. Cue the haters.
