Actually yes, yes you can turn on oil production with a flip of a switch. Literally driving up to a rod pump and flipping the toggle takes 1 minute.
With the massive amount of oil workers waiting to be hired back, a LARGE portion of the production could be up and running in less than a week.
Other fields that might have had tubing/equipment removed for maint reasons can be replaced in a day max.
I think you underestimate the amount of workover rigs and crews out there that are just on standby waiting to work.

Crews need to work for a company. Prices stay too low, for too long, and companies go out of business. Few companies left in business, means few crews getting hired back "like the flip of a switch."
With the current over-supply overwhelming demand by a massive factor, the over-supply will last long enough to put these companies out of business. There's a reason why OPEC/KSA figuratively bombed our oil industry when they saw demand falling off, and that was to weaken our ability to produce oil so they can control the price better.
The sustained price will have be above certain thresholds for a certain amount of time for investors to feel comfortable investing in US companies to restart production, and "break-even" won't be good enough.

Hi. I'll put my anecdotal industry experience against yours.

Of course companies are going to go under, it's the normal cycle in the oilfield.
Trucks will be parked, rigs will be parked, and businesses will go under.
The part you're missing is how quickly people will start a new company name and BAM, they'll either buy equipment and from boneyards, OR these people will have already bought equipment for pennies on the dollar and it is waiting for things to come back.
The oilfield guys are not dumb, this happens every few year and people have learned out to play the game.
It's not a protracted, multi year ordeal.

Its confusing. It seems like anyone that was in CRJ upgrade or transition training cannot go back to their previous position. They have to stay in their “Hold” until a need for them, per their suspended classes, returns.

what does cancelled seniority imply? They mentioned those in training classes for the CRJ are indefinitely on hold while ERJ classes advance ahead but that wouldn’t mean our seniority number changes right?

There will be several ERJ transition/upgrade classes in August. The company needs to transition CRJ pilots over to the ERJ. We seem to be way overstaffed on the CRJ at this point. I doubt we'll have any CRJ classes for a long time.

I can't remember if you are one of the guys that was sent home during new hire training or not. As far as what's happening - everyone that was in a transition or upgrade class that was sent home, or that had one awarded and hadn't gone to training yet, went back to their old position. And their award was cancelled. It's gone. CRJ or ERJ, doesn't matter. They're are back in their old position and need to put a new bid in now. They have been given no consideration for future classes. Future awards will be from a new bid.

What I’m wondering is will the company start focusing on the ERJ more now since it’s picked up more, and start downsizing the CRJ. I’m saying that from a purely speculative standpoint, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about. I wouldn’t mind transitioning over at some point either way.
That’s exactly why is happening.
I predicted this as soon as the COVID hysteria started.
People like fancy jets, not -200’s... and so do the majors who are contracting us.
