I like the option of not having to wear the blazer and hat. The AA way wasn’t my bag.
That being said, I think people should take the time to keep whatever they are wearing in good order. Just don’t look like a slob.
And I did see an FO wearing the blazer last trip.

No, actually I don’t have to agree that Delta pilots look professional. I think they look silly and deserving of all the scorn heaped their way.
The blazer is a holdover from a bygone era. Airline travel has since become a commodity. Yoga pants and flip flops abound. Southwest Airlines played a huge part in that, for better or worse.
I saw a bunch of Doctors and nurses get off one of our flight in scrubs. Kind of tacky, sure, but are they no longer professionals?
If you like the blazer or think it makes you look like a real airline pilot, knock yourself out. But I think back to some advice that a friend of mine here gave me when I started: if your CA is wearing a blazer, tread carefully. If it’s blazer and hat, call in sick.

I personally like the way the blazer looks, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I own two suits that I wear once every 2 years or so and I have a feeling the blazer would get the same treatment.
I am about to pull the pin on buying the Karbon after holding out. The new one fits much better. Yeah, it looks weird but I am a commuter and I value comfort and weight over everything else.
My leather jacket and I aren’t talking right now. I spent a lot of money and time waiting for it, so I want to like it, but it is SO FREAKING HEAVY. I find myself regretting having it along as much as I am glad I brought it. This past winter I have brought a nondescript pullover and just throw it on during walk arounds (a nondescript rain jacket is allowed in the AOM) and pop off my tie and throw it on after I am done for the day.
Works great, but I get some funny looks and comments from captains. One told me I had to stay in uniform until I got to the hotel. Uh....no. Eye roll emoji.
