What do you mean? I hear it three times every time I flare.

It’s really about not offending someone who isn’t one thing or another by recognizing someone who is.

We’ve gotten that thin-skinned.

Bit#hing about buying the pink tie, pink lemonade, or pink ribbon is being part of the problem.
Not when the "Susan G. Komen for the Cure" only spends 21% of their budget on research.

Even though I also get annoyed with the bandwagon-ish aspect of breast cancer stuff, I agree with this post.

And gives SIZEABLE amount of money to Planned Parenthood. Never understood that. Komen works so hard to raise money and then, gives it to Planned Parenthood.

Maybe because PP does more than just abortion?

Abortions make up 3.4 percent of the services Planned Parenthood performs, an increase from 3 percent the previous year. Testing for sexually transmitted diseases comprises the largest share of Planned Parenthood services, at 48.7 percent, and next is contraception at 27.1 percent. An additional 6.3 percent of medical services performed are cancer screenings and prevention, a drop from 7 percent during the previous fiscal year. In all, Planned Parenthood saw 2.4 million patients across the U.S.

The fact that they performed abortion is irrelevant to my point. I do not understand donating to one cause to have them donate to another. I want to know what my charitable giving is going toward. I would feel the same way if they gave money to the spotted owls society (although that probably would not make the news).

Money raised by the pink ties didn’t go to the Komen foundation.

It went to our pilot relief fund.

You make it sound so insignificant, that 3.4%. But there is nothing insignificant about 327,653 abortions per year. That is a costly procedure and makes up a lot more than 3.4 percent of their budget. A lot more. Its on their own website, see it for yourself.
