Puddy,
We get it dude. The 220 is a great airplane. I know you are a fan from reading your stuff.
I personally think it would be a great second fleet type at swa, but swa is locked in the 90s and even the smallest challenges like taking Canadian dollars as payment are beyond its capabilities. Don’t look for a second fleet type at swa in the next 10 years.
In the meantime, it will do very well since it fills a niche that lots of airlines are exploring right now, the bigger than 75 and smaller than 150 seat airplane.

When did a simple google search become so difficult?
As of September 2019 525 Total Orders 90 Deliveries.
Net orders for 2019 = -12 (19 Orders - 40 Cancelations + 13 Net options)
Those orders were in 2018, there were commitments signed recently from Air France, Nordic Aviation Capital, and Air Lease Corp for 130 aircraft, but they are not yet orders.
Commitments plus orders do not even equal a thousand airplanes, much less thousands.

Wrong. Several airlines have very recently ordered the A220 (Czech Airlines, Egyptian Express and Air Austral) on top of bigger orders from Air France, JetBlue and Dave Neelman’s Moxy while many more are closely reviewing it.

Honest question: How long did it take Delta to go from beginning of the program to getting the 220 on line? Thanks

Simply put, dinosaur 737s designed in the 1960s and 1970s cannot compete on either a CASM or on a passenger comfort basis with the newer, and much more fuel efficient A220.

It’s all about the upfront costs of a new program and fleet-type. Considering how frequently it’s done at other carriers and they are still highly profitable, I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be worth it to get the best plane, in every respect, in its class.

All SWISS airplanes recently inspected are now flying again. Delta continues to fly their A220s.

I think you are way off the mark here. On a cost basis, I think a 737 Max is going to prove to be just about the cheapest airplane out there for CASM. Airlines like DL may be able to pull off a higher PRASM number with the 220, but that has more to do with their network and product.
Pax comfort is mostly about cabin configuration. The 737 sucks, but having ridden all different carriers and many different airframes, I would take a mid cabin window seat or exit row on the 2 seat side of a MD80 over just about any other domestic product.
