WHAAAT? 4% return. I had to do a double take on the decade of this post. Where can I sign up?

Yup. 4% return on the first $25,000 in each account. Each person can have two accounts. So $50,000 for you, $50,000 for your spouse. That's $4000 a year in interest. Pretty sweet.

The tricky part is to qualify for that 4%, each account has to have at least 15 debit transactions (minimum $5 per) each month. It's harder than it sounds!

Google pay. I’m a cheap pilot so to keep all my money I attached one debit card to my wife’s email and the other to mine. On the 1-5th of the month I do 3 transactions a day between both email accounts for the same $. Takes less than 5 min.

HA! I'll have to give that a shot, thanks. I've been gassing my car up $5 at a time if I'm short on transactions. That sounds much easier.

100% agree USAA has fallen from grace... I have been pleased with Navy Federal and also Pentagon Federal. Currently have accounts with all 3.

Had an issue the other day and was on hold for over 30 minutes... that used to NEVER happen. Every time my wife call they try and talk her into insuring her wedding band etc... I've also been shopping around.

Back when they switched over to chip cards, they deactivated my credit card without warning. I was on the road, on a weekend, and calling USAA reached only a third party call center who told me “they” (USAA) would not reactivate my card and I was SOL. USAA is just another garbage big business these days. More expensive for the same crap customer service as everyone else.

My first mtg was with USAA. USAA wanted to know why I was buying a house in one state and based in another. I even had to provide a copy of my CBA stating I could use non-rev travel to commute to work along with FARs stating I could use the cockpit jumpseat. I also had to have a letter from my base manager elaborating on pilot commuting. It was a real headache.

The mtg was sold about 2 months after closing. Disclaimer, it was an FHA loan.

My next house we used a different lender.

Keep in mind when you shop insurance the other companies know what you are paying. They are likely to come in cheaper. It’s also likely by year 3 they will be higher.
