I knew a guy that drove 4+ hours to BWI from upper NY. He said that it was the same time as if he drove to BUF or ALB, cleared security, got there in time to pre-board, and then the flight to BWI. The advantage was he didn't have to be concerned about being bumped on the way down and going home he didn't have to wait for the flight home. He would do AMs so he would drive down to BWI the afternoon before, get a hotel room and leave his car at the hotel while he did his trip. If my drive had been 4 hours I would have done the same.

You could have bought something as boring as a Cessna 172 at a reasonable price a few years back, today you would have been able to sell it for an eye-watering profit. Same goes with the likes of RV-6/7/8. If you like to tinker, the experimental world is your thing.
... and yes, I can easily afford to live on 85 TFP.
