Of course. Revisit in 10-20 years and let’s see. In this crazy industry it could have been a blessing in disguise.

For me, the most appealing part was company stability followed by domicile choice.

The reason we are competitive with the big three is because SWA is the largest domestic carrier.

A CJO in hand when there is no hiring is pretty useless.

As much as it sucks, they probably didn't want to keep anyone hanging at this time. There's still a lot of uncertainty in the next year or two and they're making adjustments for the unexpected. Better to let the current selectees know the dreaded news so they can at least apply to other jobs before those dry up.

I’ll bet when hiring resumes, those folks will get a call, a quick interview to make sure they didn’t murder someone in the intervening time, and a fresh CJO. Hopefully that’s sooner than later.

the way I understand it, everything got flushed. apps on file, etc. all will need to reapply from scratch.

again, my understanding, could be 200% wrong.

There's no way they'll hang on to a pool while [very possibly] sending out furlough letters in a few months.

Nobody who has been hired at ANY major in the last few years is “in good shape”.....but being furloughed is going to be a lot better than having a CJO cancelled.

I disagree. Some of these dudes have been trying for YEARS to get through SWA’s “mystery jackpot moving target” interview process. Having the most difficult part of the process behind you counts for a lot. At the very least I hope they all get interviews when things return to normal.

They did enough to get noticed and scored a conditional offer. I’m hoping a parameter will be in place to check a box on the computer that the candidate did indeed interview and was offered a job. They could then provide the necessary updates and get some sort of priority to reapply—with preference.

Lets be honest, a lot can change in a few short years. If we don’t hire for two to five years the pool won’t be of much use.

Whatever. The bottom line is that it’s a crock of $7!t that they’re not placed and kept in a pool for however long it takes for us to hire again. Classless move by SWA. As someone mentioned.....deep definitely the lawyers at play.
