Gary did state that very frankly. In and of itself, I do believe that as a fact. What he failed to mention is that by that point, portions of the federal government will fail to function and we will be on the brink of a survivalist wet dream.
I am all about staying home for another month to get through this thing, but no American is going to sit on their hands for 6 months, never mind 12. At some point, this country is going to get back to business, even if that means a significant death toll.
Again, just to be clear, I am advocating flattening the curve and staying home, just not for 6 months. Starting in June, I believe there will be a phased opening of the economy with safety measures in place and hopefully some rock solid rapid testing. Once folks are not afraid to leave their houses, the economy will be back with a little help.

Agreed. His base salary is a very small part of his total pay. I personally think he was already looking for a Bob Iger-esque (Disney CEO) off ramp to retirement. For all the pilot hate that has been flung his direction, he has done an amazing job with transforming this company into what it was two months ago. My money is on him staying on to see this thing through to recovery and then announcing his retirement with Nealon taking over.

Just because you don't know the plan......doesn't mean they have NO plan. Scheduling chaos??? How do you cancel 80% of your flights in two weeks, and fly many planes to temp storage with out scheduling chaos.

We shall see, but I suspect you will be disappointed.

I hope I am....that means they are still in existence.

Evert syllable you utter is true. That doesn't mean that they can't be replaced with people equally important, and just as suitable, who 90 days earlier had no idea they would end up in the airline industry.

SWA will be the last man standing, if it comes to that.

And worst case, if this virus crisis is still a thing 12 months from now, and we haven't developed technology, therapies, and protocols for dealing with it more effectively than we are now, then before allowing the last remaining airline to fall and stripping our nation of airline service, the government will step in with stimulus just like they did with the CARES Act. Remember, airlines are critical national infrastructure. It's the whole idea behind the RLA.

The government will not allow all airlines to fail.

If it’s status quo 1 year from now and you are still worried about your airline, YOU get a trophy.

I want to see a meaningful early out package. 500 guys off the top would save a substantial number on the bottom.

I think most people who have any substantial money in their Top Hat plan would be absolutely foolish to not take an early out and protect their investments.

But what do I know...

Exactly. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t offer that before more drastic measures. It’d be a win for the Kompany, too.
