Pretty sure metaphors don’t have to share the exact DNA of the original object. Anyone can make their definitions so strict that nobody else’s opinion would ever matter. That just shuts down debate because you disagree. Worthless. Present an opposing view at least.

Being contagious is not the point nor does it matter. How other people’s actions impact one another is. A society must make trade offs and decide what it can live with. His point is valid.

Voting no to concessions. You "people" need more time to argue and insult each other.

[QUOTE=ZapBrannigan;3060572]Asinine comparison.

Is driving 65 highly contagious?

It most definitely is if you're driving home from the Airport on a weekend trip half asleep, cross the double yellow, and hit my wife head on. It would matter not if she was driving 20 mph, your insistence on driving 65 just killed her. Thanks a lot you selfish jerk!

Perfect comparison. We've assumed a level of risk to get places faster than driving 20 MPH, just like we can take on risk to open the economy so I don't lose my house.

Show me a time in history where taking concessions has ever stopped a furlough. It just prolongs the inevitable and is very difficult to get said concessions back. Ask me how I know...

No to concessions. I equate this solution to trying to fill a bathtub with water by supplying the tub with more water pressure at a higher rate with the drain unplugged and a crack in the side of the tub.

What’s our crew to aircraft ratio? About 12?

Wondering what you all think about the 30% reduction in fleet notion.

The WAG math I’m using puts us about 3150 overmanned if we get down to a 30% smaller fleet.

Just spitballing here but I’m not confident the ETOs and early outs will prevent a furlough.

Im at about 27%, 2015 hire.

And no concessions.

The 30% I assume is around the time of Oct. 1st, when CARES runs out? I am not sure of how many flights we are adding each week/month until that time. I am honestly looking at what we are projecting to be at by next summer. Just me, I don’t think we go through, after all the early outs and retirements, a bunch of furloughs such as 30%. If the “silent” Max comes back sometime in our lifetime, and capacity does as well, such as next summer, I don't see us furloughing. Why put people on the street if they will be brought back in three months for more sims and raring to go for next summer? Especially if Gary can keep his “no furlough” campaign, which I know he takes serious, whether you like him or not. Just my two cents, but I think bookings for next summer, and the industries of cruises, amusement parks, sports, etc. will dictate a lot. And we don’t know yet.

I was furloughed by AirTran in October 98' and recalled in February 99. Three months. So I don't think that the conventional wisdom that a furlough has to be 18 months or more long to be worthwhile is accurate.

How many of you were furloughed during that time Zap? Seems like forever ago.
