Sad they resorted to this, I haven’t been here long and had some faith that GK and them wore to an extent trustworthy, now just feel like a naive idiot, with so few people below me and upgrade probsbly even longer now, I will open the door to other choices should the industry recover faster than expected or go cargo. The job safety is part why I came here but more so it’s because I felt the company would do right by us in bad times...now I just chuckle at how dumb I was

So yea. FUPM

And let me know if I need to be looking for another job because I have a family to look after. A real family that is, not a SW one.

I assume you are talking about the second bullet point. I thought they were talking about step raises too.. but then I noticed it specifically referenced September -- which is the contract anniversary raise. I thought we were done with those?

So is it a hit disproportionately against FOs? Or am I reading it wrong?

I’m confused about the raises part.

September already happened. So do they want retroactive cuts?

Or are they wanting step raises halted I.e. fifth to sixth year pay?

The way I read it....

They want to cancel our 9/1/20 raise and move it to 1/1/23. I don't read it as paying back the raise or anything, but certainly a 3% cut on top of a 10% guarantee cut, and also resetting the retro check clock. Each offer has gotten worse. When you look at Delta, they actually got contractual improvements with an ALV cut. I don't understand everything in their offer but it appears there were trade offs. In SWAs offer it's solely a they win, we lose offer. They can fûck right off with that sh!t.

You can look at my previous post. I was in favor of giving something temporary (minus the fm language) more to provide optics to other employee groups than to create a true contribution to the organization.

I am one of those guys that came here for the job security and culture. I am not naive. I came through the regional side having experienced three mergers, a warn letter, a furlough, age 65, eight years as a regional FO and was part of the lost generation.

I came here thinking Southwest was different. I finished my Kool-aid and have now spit it out.

The very idea they would come back with a larger reduction the second time shows me true colors of the organization. And - while negotiating 30 additional new planes. The milk is not only spilled but soured. It cannot go back in the carton. How incredibly sad that GK blew his chance to become a legend and will instead be remembered during this time as just another slime ball, money grubbing CEO.

I will be waiting at the door for my WARN letter. Also, I pray that every pilot going over min guarantee while Dean is on furlough have their name published in a place where every SW pilot can see it. I don’t give a crap if you had three wives and have kids in college, you will not be hurting as badly as the guys on furlough.

I won’t hold it against anyone if I get furloughed and people are above minimum guarantee...if they are picking up from other pilots

I, for one, welcome our new executive VP of pilot unity, "Hot" Carl Kuwitzsky. He has done more in this one email to turn company loyalists into hardcore unionists than anyone currently in SWAPA.
I hope he sends some more communications exactly like this one on a day when the company stock goes through the roof, a vaccine is announced, and it is announced that we are taking early deliveries of MAX aircraft. His timing is at least as good as the rigidity of his spine and the quality of his loyalty.
Carl for President!

same. FUPM.

Why screw with the group that can influence your costs?

My bad - I agree. However, picking up out of open time should be called out for all to see.

I emailed my reps my sentiments earlier today. Also I had some ExTO fun filling out the employee survey and my thoughts on their party planning question while they are cutting pay and threatening furloughs.

The next anniversary/Christmas/birthday cards I get from “Gary” is getting returned unopened in another envelope.

I honestly believed there was truth to the culture and loyalty to avoid furloughs. That latest email ended that.
