Default Fall 2021 new hire bases, waits, trip trades

What are new hires currently getting, and what’s the wait for each base?

Is it easy for a line holder to trade trips and compose a line with trips from multiple bases?

what is the commuter policy?

There has not been hiring in 2 years, so no info on what bases hires are getting or what the wait is. Expect OAK month one and up to year for any other base and you won’t be be disappointed.

So many variables it’s hard to answer. No restrictions on flying out of base however.

1 online flight, 2 off line.

Even a reserve pilot can trade reserve blocks for scheduled trips with other pilots, and then use those trips to trade with the company. You can also pick up in other domiciles.

Some pilots try to give away trips in one domicile and pick up in another in order to reduce or eliminate a commute.

New hires are getting the 737.

Base will prolly start with ETOPS on the Left Coast-just my guess. The Denver terminal expansion will be complete shortly, and I expect Denver to grow by about 50%. That’s a bunch of pilots heading to DEN.

Line holders can can trade with others and the company. Reserves can only trade with others.

One flight on company metal to arrive an hour before report (or Reserve Period start), or ANY two flight options to arrive by report.

Probably sit out in the ramp waiting for an occupied gate to open up while those sit there open...

I’ve also heard about a new LAX terminal too forever. At least DEN is nearly finished…rumor is 7-800 more pilots in the base. There’s a bit over 1000 now.
