Also, I meant to ask about the retirement plan? I gather it’s a pension plan of some sort, but not really familiar with those.

401k. You get what you put in +15% from the company.

ok. Cool. The APC profile is wrong then. It says no 401k and that it’s a “b fund”. That’s why I wasn’t sure. Thanks.

Well a B-fund is a 401k contribution. A A fund is a pension…FedEx and UPS have those.

You'll also hear it referred as a NEC or Non Elective Contribution... Aka a B fund for you 401K.

I hope the hiring department trolls these forms because if this person really has an interview and doesn't even know the basic information about SWA, items which literally take 2 seconds to find out, or maybe this is where the industry is, anyone with a pulse we don't care you know nothing about our airline.

Oh. In that case, please feel free to show, in 2 seconds, where to find this info. I didn’t know the pilot contract was public info. Also, you could simply not post if you have nothing to add.

and considering Delta and American pages actually list 16% direct contribution to 401k, whereas the SWA page says 401k - no, I can see where I should have been able to easily ascertain the info…. 🙄

Get used to the inflated sense of ego from some of our pilots with regard to SWA. Fortunately, it’s been tampering down as this place becomes less and less of a logical career choice for candidates.

-Or-

the non-confrontational / situation defusing response could’ve been…

”Hey, my mistake. I have been scouring the inter-webs for clarification and haven’t been able to find the SWA/SWAPA CBA for clarification on this issue. Could you point me to the location so I can research for myself?”

keeps things above the fray and obliquely makes your point

just trying to help you out. The 3 part interview will have one section where the interviewer will slightly press you to see your conflict resolution skills & capabilities

Why help? I'm upgrading soonish and have many years left...let these guys blow up in the interview rather than daily for my last 20+ years here.
