I just saw a 150xxx get a sweet premium 2 day AT SECOND YEAR RATES because he was the only in domicile bidder for a Denver trip. Beat me out and got to fly a trip for way greater than 2x pay. Good for him. He KTC and it paid.

Also, the schedulers spreading this manure to new hires should be fired. Them spreading this complete mistruth has been a common practice since at least 2014. It is false, and in this open time environment, which I have never seen here in 8 years, it is costing pilots money.
A new hire can easily score a premium open time trip if they have clear days on their schedule. Just look at the number of trips that go VPF at 0900 every day. Sometimes it is over 100. Those trips had zero legal bidders. Scheduling regularly assigns premium before reserve right now and will continue to into the future.

So what are the odds of getting rid of reserve trips as a new hire so I can bid these trips? Will someone trade or take those? From what I’ve read it sounds like reserve can be lucrative in and of itself but I like the sound of more money and less hotels.

Same odds as a Yeti sighting while you’re out riding your unicorn

during the summer, not very good. During the slower months when kids are back in school, better.

Well VPF is a premium bid….there’s plenty of that and it’s FCFS. Same with picking up JA’s off TTGA…as long as it was run through open time it should trigger 2nd yr.
It “should” just go off code of the trip. If it’s DOT, HOT, SNOT, EF, VPF or JA…should be 2nd yr. as long as they’re above their original line value.

This….they have til the 15th I believe of the NEXT month to audit trips for the previous month. If your avail days are later in the month you want to be under the cap as long as possible….don’t forget the trip audit is wrong and email/call SWAPA after the 1st of the month and have them flag it for Re-audit.
