And here I didn’t know you could use all those words in the same sentence.
I don’t GAF what anyone does. Write it, don’t write it, just let me know. I personally like to have the identifier and altimeter and runway in letters big enough to see without picking up a scrap of curly paper and squinting at it. I can make that happen, I just want to make sure we are all on the same page. People that get upset about tiny cockpit management issues like this one generally have some sort of undiagnosed disorder that would probably benefit from medication. Don't we vitg go over the atis and brief a runway and approach based on the wx we both have looked at? If ai why aies anyone need to read it again? And if so why cant that person who needs to read it again select it if of the fmc? in the AOM is days the pilot monitoring shall obtain the wx. No where does it say write it down. if say if you need it written down then do it yourself. Not directed at you per se |
Nobody got fired. Nobody is gonna get fired. The only guy who really *should* get fired was the ground ops guy who sent the ridiculous email to the DEN personnel, but it looks like he has a thick layer of DEI armor so he can't/won't be touched.
No, they're waiting for someone on the pilot side to really step on his dingding so they can show who is really at fault, meaning the pilots of course. Seriously, why else would they repeatedly mention sick/fatigue calls and premium labor rates, when they even admitted during the earnings call that those factors are very small compared to the other factors that cause the company financial stress? They hate the pilots, period. Just like the USAF, the support folks hate ops (all ops not just pilots), everyone hates the pilots, MX gets blamed almost as much as pilots except they're not as cool as we are so they're a harder target, and everyone is sure it's really the ramper's fault except nobody wants to say it out loud because we treat them like crap and don't pay them much so it's just rude to blame them for anything. Tell me I'm wrong. Use small words. |
You aren’t wrong. I got yelled at on BWI ops frequency by the SWAsome BWI ops lady because I asked why we hadn’t received potable yet after 3 previous calls. Do you think anyone would back me up if I had returned the favor? I have absolutely no care what other employee groups think regarding my group. They are going to have to put some bigger numbers on the check this time. I’m not “taking anything for the team” or the company. There is no team. We aren’t family. It used to be. I’m here for the $ and that’s it.

I want the Quon! Ya know, if it weren’t for pilots like you, Ground OPs wouldn’t have bad days at work. <summoning my Greta voice> ‘How Dare You!’ |

At least somebody gets it. I keep hearing from other pilots that they think the executive want to get all the other work groups done before the pilots, as our new contract will have the biggest raise and they dont want the “me to” happening. WTF!? we ARE NOT on any level playing field with any other employee group at the airline. I’m not an elitist, but no other group bare the responsibilities and risks we do when we step in the cockpit. They have not spent thousands to tens of thousands of dollars obtaining licenses, thousands of hours practicing their profession to improve their skills and hundreds of thousands of hours away from home all in the pursuit of the highest level and highest paying jobs in aviation. As I’ve said before, this is not HK’s 1970s-80s airline anymore. It’s the same corporate culture as all other big US airlines; Management vs workers. Go put your Nuts book in the attic and forget about it. |

I've been tempted a few times to find a yellow vest and wander around the ramp looking for tools and ladders and stuff so I can do servicing myself... Potable water, how hard can that be? The hose is on a reel right where we can all see it, and I just need a ladder to get to the servicing access door... I assume someone is probably going to chop block me before I actually damage anything, so... Well, I've been tempted anyhow. Maybe next time I'm waiting for the lav dump I'll wander down and ask if I can drive the belt loader. Few things on the planet are more dangerous than a pilot (an ex-fteen pilot for that matter) wandering around on the ramp looking for something to do so I'm fairly certain my mere presence will encourage them to work faster just to get me to leave before I break something expensive.
