Quote: Exactly. And at the same time still say they are continuing with the goal of 2160 “new hires”. So that number is now supposed to include new hire FCTIs and requals. Gimme a break.
Just wait. It’s going to get even more entertaining as the year wears on.

Quote: yeah that's the spin the company is trying out, but they're lying through their teeth. You can't publish a number that says "New Hire Total" and then later claim "oh I meant that's what the class capacity is."
Yes I said the company should be more honest about this. As of now, as far as I am aware, they have not addressed this at all.

Quote: As of 2/10/23 SWAPA published that 16 new hires have quit this year alone. There are currently 208 new hires on the seniority list with a 2023 DOH. This makes our 2023 new hire attrition 9.3% (208/224 = 9.3%).
This only matters because training capacity is limited. Once a pilot takes a slot, if they do not finish a replacement cannot be added to the next class.

Otherwise it would be no big deal for a pilot to quit with a few weeks, as not much was invested.

Attrition for pilots that have been here for more than a year is still extremely low. Until there is a exodus of pilots that have been there for awhile, the company isn't going to care.

Quote: That’s the one, Zap. Thanks. So obviously they are falling short on pumping the amount of NHs through that they wanted to.

I forget but how many new MAXes are we supposed to get this year?

Wait until the abysmal numbers that are showing up for interviews starts to manifest itself in the way that they won’t have people to stick in classes.

Could we be seeing a gross understaffing situation by the end of this year or will they just accelerate some -700 retirements?
According to market planning pubs, number of aircraft on-line in March is 674.....Sept is 761. That's a net increase of 87 planes. What is SWA doing with 87 more airplanes? Outta be interesting.

I don't doubt that. What was the aircraft count in September 2019?

assuming 12 crews per plane that's 2088 pilots just to cover the new planes.
Interesting may not be the word I use.
I'd say "pain"

the pictures are terrifying. Nary a peep about it from flight ops, but don’t you dare leave the bleeds in the off position.
