In 7.5 yrs I only had problems with 1 CA. He was a micromanaging narcissistic *******. Any mistake he made he blamed me for. When I’d call him on something, “that’s just the way I do it”.
He also said he didn’t like the way I talk and that he couldn’t read my writing on the Atis sheet. He’s Air Force and prior Tranny.

What I find fascinating in a weird way is that we have so many more unpleasant types in the right seat than the left seat which is contrary to my three previous airlines.
My best guess is that it’s due to the repetitive and mind-numbing nature of our flying and the long upgrade times. Simply put, FOs are ready for upgrade years before they get the chance to.

Yup. We had our fair share of a-holes for sure. Fortunately, the racist one from FLL took the VSP. There’s still some others left to go.

After your 3rd walk around and airplane set up of the day while the CA goes off to poop and get a coffee…your eye starts to twitch when he shows up and asks why everything isn’t done yet. 99% of the people I’ve flown with here are awesome…it’s just the 1% that makes me want to use the escape rope to run away.

Off the top of my head, I can think of maybe 3 or 4 in my base that I try to avoid and only 1 that I absolutely will not fly with. All of them are known problem children. There are a few "premium only" folks that I will tolerate for 1.5 pay, but not many.
Of my top 3 "avoidance" FOs, one moved, another upgraded (and will be in another base for the foreseeable future, unless he comes back as an FO, which happens pretty often in my domicile) and the one mentioned in an earlier post is still around.

As an FO I try to do as much of the work as I can, partly because I want to be efficient and partly because it’s harder to miss something if my flow is consistent. But I try to let the captain know to not hesitate to tell me if I cross one of his lines.
