On pay alone (and pay rates are but one component of an industry-leading contract), we need to achieve a 63% DOS raise and then three 5% annual raises thereafter to gain a 10% premium in terms of career compensation over Delta over a 12-year period.
This assumes the Delta pilot upgrades to 767-300/200 captain at the 20-month point and earns an average of 83 credit hours per month. It also assumes the SWA pilot upgrades at 6.5 years and earns an average of 95 TFP per month. Yes, I know lots of people at SWA earn more than 95 TFP per month. But, a lot of people at Delta earn more than 83 credit hours per month. I also know that not everyone at Delta upgrades to the 767-300/200 at 20 months (some do so even earlier) but also not everyone at SWA upgrades at 6.5 years (I don't think anyone upgrades earlier right now). It also assumes SWA pay tables maintain their current CA to FO and year-to-year longevity ratios.
Given all of the above, 12-year captain DOS pay rate would be $400.98. And DOS+3 year 12-year captain pay rate would be $464.18.
Is that what SWAPA is demanding? I don't think so. But I think Finessed is right. We need something better than the Big 3 to begin to right this ship.

Nobody is doing anything rash. I think we all mean to express that IF the LEGAL pathway to striking opens, we are willing to take this upto and including the complete collapse of southwest airlines should they choose to play hardball at that point in time. Let it go down in history as a good aviation book like PanAm and Eastern. I for one have zero $hit to give anymore, and am willing to go down with this rudderless ship just out of principle. Kool-aid drinking time is over for me. I don't care to carry on any type of "culture". There is no culture here if there ever was. It's not my job to keep that BS alive, that's on management. They set the tone.

awesome. Guess none of you ever need a ride on “other airlines“ jump seats. Maybe we just quit showing up to support you during your pickets. Lucky for you most SWA pilots aren’t an idiot like you.

You may be taking this out of his context. Its like the sailors and the Marines. Hate eachother in the workplace but if a civilian punches a sailor at a bar, a whole bar of Marines are going to kick his ass because they are "our sailors".

True, we’re fierce but respectful competitors.
