SWA to DL
#21
I didn’t want to start a new thread for this, but any Delta guys willing to chime in with how much you made last year? (Fleet, seat, base, seniority, approximate days worked). I’ve read through the EOY salary threads but I’m curious about Delta specifically. Currently at WN thinking hard about making the jump. I know how much our guys generally make, so I’m looking for a realistic comparison. TIA
I’m on a NB, and a whole bunch of pay items kicked in for August and September, and it’s kinda nuts tracking all the money. Reroutes (reassignments, changes to your trip, whatever you call it at SWA) pay 150% the first day, 200% after and if you get in late due to a reroute, it pays on 100% of the last day on top of that. I got in late my first trip in August and tripped the 2 hours pay for releasing after midnight. My schedule for September was 78 and change credit, but with the extended duty pay, it pays 85.
People were focusing on the rates and whatnot like the always do, and a lot of this soft pay flew under the radar. NB guys are getting 10-20% more pay by just bidding trips with longer duty days. Folks are starting to figure that out and it’s going to change bidding strategies.
I’ve been a line holder for years, but all the new soft pay goes on top of the reserve guarantee, so I’m changing my game. I’m going to be reserve, and 18 hour long call makes it easy peasy.
Increased DC kicks in January, and if UAL passes their deal, it’s good for a 2pct additional pop.
Because of all the changes, most won’t be able to give a good answer until end of 24.

It’s not that easy with the new contract.

ex: Our 4 day rsv blocks pay a min of 24. They award you a rigged 4 day and your guarantee goes up 2.5 to 92.5 since our min paying 4 day is worth 26.5. So you’ll make 92.5 bow even if you don’t work another day of the month.
I’m crediting 120+ on rsv this summer just working over rsv days. Friends at UAL say they never go over guarantee but that’s u der their old cba so wasn’t sure if things changed under the DL new one.

Yes, the new 18-hour long call is great for a commuter, in theory. The big catch is that we can be escalated from long call to short call up to 6 times per month. The escalations are done on a day-by-day basis, and are performed almost entirely at the whim of scheduling.
Unless you’re on a very well-staffed fleet here, it’s not uncommon to have either a trip or a short call period on every single reserve day. Not an ideal situation for a commuter.
Your guys’ rsv trips go above rsv guarantee like ours? I know you can do the rolling thunder thing but didn’t know if an awarded rsv trip went toward guarantee or above it.

Not exactly true. All of the new pay pieces of the new PWA go above the reserve guarantee. Reroute pay, holiday pay, extended duty pay, ADG cutout pay. Anything in the Delta PWA that is "pay/no credit" is paid above the reserve guarantee.
