Don't count on any time off before IOE.
Most of my upgrade class had UOE scheduled before we left training. I had four days off between training and UOE. I upgraded in June.

MCI, STL, BNA rumors for a while now. Expect a base announcement this quarter, and another sometime next year.

Not talking about upgrades.

Right now, there is a backlog for IOEs.

Newhires are getting time off after sims are complete while they wait for IOE.

Might last awhile….might change next week.

We were told in CQT las week by the system chief there’d be a base announcement today in Chicago. He told us with no uncertainty it’d be today and would be MCI, STL or BNA. I personally think it’s all just a distraction and don’t really care unless there’s associated growth with the base.

There are plenty of people that care. Not that it changes my expectations for our new CBA.

What is like on weekends? Are Sat/Sun typically off unless in sims?
Post sim training timeline ?

Any flexibility maybe for one off events such as family member's wedding?

Thanks much
6 days a week and no promise that your one day is will be a weekend. We did have one 3 day stretch, but most of us were host focused on studying for the oral. I didn't go home (flights into VPS weren't favorable for it anyway). I wanted to bring the family here for the holiday weekend, but it looks like we are working through that. That's all fine, just don't expect to have time off or make plans during or right after the training footprint.

And I recommend some pre-study. Had I known this program is mostly self study, I would have tried to give myself a leg up earlier. Actually, I tried, I just didn't do very good at it (life happens). But I would have pushed harder if I knew what the program was really like. You get 4-5 days of actual instruction before the oral, the rest you learn on your own. You might get lucky and be in the AQP program and just do the test instead of oral. Not sure exactly when that starts.

Early ‘24 for AQP assuming what I heard from an instructor there is true.
