Well SouthWest so it was probably sex, you know grannies and grandes.
Seriously, self medicating is almost always alcohol
Easiest as it’s legal.
Still, did the OP pull the plug before he got caught or was HIMS already involved?

This is why you need interview prep next time.
You resigned from your probationary year because your marriage was in shambles and the stress of divorce was too much of a distraction to be able to safely perform your job.

No need to mention SA anywhere in the process unless it’s already ‘official’.
Failed a test or formal therapy or whatever.

No

Go turf that 6 figure job and see how long the “ride or die” chick stays with you

And come the devorce, which is over 50% in America, and we’ll over 50% initially started by the woman, how do you think it’s going to work out when you go all “I’m a addict”

Next look up how courts rule in the husband V wife in everything from kids to money

HIMS is also a administrative punishment, it ain’t about health

Ether way, good luck and god speed dude

If this is a real weakness/issue, never never never admit it or say it, go take some “personal time” or a sabbatical to explore Europe, also talk to a attorney versed in FAA matters, and also talk to an devorce atty, keep everything off documents

one more time? This time in English please

He's saying a plurality of airline marriages are held together by the "promissory note" of hypergamy. Remove the income and the impetus behind the resignation becomes self-defeating. A lot of marriages (airline or otherwise) resemble the remark, so they rather shoot the messenger; which is where the accusation of projection came in. I mean, if the retort to someone's point is to shut off their mic, well....

Could be all three.

No matter the subject of the addiction, get yourself and your family on the right path first.

Once that’s underway, consider the career.

Best of luck.

.
True. But impact to medical is a clear differentiator.

We also don’t know if law enforcement is a factor. Lots of things are possible here—fact is, family first, job second.

Wow, this got a lot more positive responses than I thought. I really appreciate everyones advice and insight. No medical action was taken, no law enforcement involvement, and no divorce looming (my wife has been nothing but supportive as I/we deal with this). My problems started to affect my job, unfortunately, like TiredSoul said, I resigned before it spun out of control (prevent actions taken against medical/cert) and more issues in my marriage. I had to resign to take care of myself and my family. It's been tough to deal with my problems, but also hard to figure out how to word this resignation and unemployment to employers in the future.

I feel like going to a regional is a push back down the stairs, but a move to Spirit, Allegiant, or Frontier would be closer to a lateral move in the mean time. But when I am in a better place to return, I just don't know what the better move would be. Just sucks to take so much time off, when all of these carriers want to see currency and updates in applications. I need to take care of myself, but also put myself in a position where I can provide for my family once better.
