Default Aircraft Order

Was this order talked about in the earnings call/filing, or is this new news. How many are replacement?
Also…did I hear Bob right on CNBC that we are effectively going to shrink for 2024? Ummm. We don’t have retirements here.
We lose growth…we are not going to attract people. Can anyone fill in the nitty-gritty numbers here from the filing?

This is what the company said “The Company now expects first quarter 2024 capacity to increase in the range of 10 percent to 12 percent, year-over-year, compared with its previous guidance to increase in the range of 14 percent to 16 percent, year-over-year.” Not sure how that’s interpreted as we are shrinking…but no, we are not. Just slowing growth a few basis points.

and yeah, the aircraft order was effectively announced in the 8-k and subsequent call.

The order came after the earnings call. My bet is that those are largely replacement airframes to get rid of the old 700s since the Max is performing well for fuel numbers.
Also, in typical CEO newspeak, he said we are reducing capacity. What he didn't say is that we are just reducing our forecast growth by a couple of percentage points, not actually shrinking. The guy with his hand up the puppet's butt used to say that every time Wall Street would start getting edgy about overall industry capacity in order to calm people down. Then we would grow anyway.
In other words, it means nothing. Tell the investors what they want to hear and then do what you are going to do anyway. That's how these clowns operate.

Just moderating growth after the last few years of trying to build back the network after adding 18 new cities during Covid. They said something of taking roughly 70-80 airplanes a year and a 6% annual stable growth rate. Not all doom and gloom like what is going on at spirit, frontier, and JB.

Well the order is for -7’s and that plane is a unicorn. I’ll feel better when I’m sitting in it vs staring at an order sheet that may or may not happen.

But if you leave, who will be here to tell us they’re voting NO? 😉
