Especially when its 120° or 5° in the jet bridge. I have never seen OAL do this. They put the brake on and leave.
Oh I totally agree. I’m not what some would call a “people person”. If I were king for a day we would just walk off after the parking checklist like the AA guys do, and never have to see each other at all. I’m not a fan of the jetway secret handshake. I’m sure it was essential to do the pit crew airplane swap back when there were 10 minute turns. But with most of our turns pushing an hour, I’m 100% with you.

I’m 100% behind this, I will shut it down and leave the can on the pedestal with the open write ups facing up. I’ll be at the curb or next plane within 10 minutes of brake set….. there is zero reason to ever interact with any other crew at any point…..

This all day. I facilitate a touchless swap. The words "good" and "jet" never meet in my vocabulary. If you are waiting in the jetway, I will say hello and "all good, have a great day" as I walk past.
I have had oncoming guys yell "good jet?" up the jetway as I leave. If it wasn't, I would have (probably) told you.
As for the stupid post flight walkaround, I do them...quickly. I usually tell my flying partner to high tail it out of there.

Good, we're all in agreement. I say we start this tomorrow as an early xmas gift or a chanukah gift.

There is one captain that comes off the plane/into the jetway pretending he’s on the phone, gives a nod while he’s waiting on the FO/FAs then puts his phone up as he walks off. I thought he was talking to MX until the FO filled me in.

Oh no, be sure to stand at the bottom of the jetway (with bonus points if you're on both sides of it so you block traffic), and talk loudly about any defects you encountered, and what undocumented workarounds you used to keep the metal moving. The passengers love hearing that.

Or tell them that you are commuting. I’ve used that a couple times.

Deadheading works too. I’ve used that one back in base.

Culture is what you make it…those at HDQ seem to think it’s still the 90’s with the arm wrestling competition, etc. Mgt killed that years ago but like to pretend it still exists. As long as you ignore anything coming from HDQ, this place is fine. Still tense due to lack of cba but it sounds like things are finally nearing the home stretch.
Why do you need a friendly nod from every single pilot walking the opposite direction from you in the terminal who is 25 feet away from you and is a total stranger? You need that constant social reassurance of something? Sheesh, and i'm an uber friendly dude too but when i'm a long distance away from you in the terminal i'm just not going to leap out of my way to give a gigantic hello nod how ya doing total stranger pilot guy!!!
