DOJ isn't going to approve any big mergers. Wait for Spirit to liquidate and pick up the pieces?

breeze would hardly be a big merger...

and the DOJ seems concerned with preserving low cost seat capacity.

E195-E2 would cover all the -700 flying. Max8 could do longer/higher capacity routes. If/when the 7 comes along, it could be used specifically for long routes. We’d just buy less of them. Added bonus.. if they ever wanted to go smaller, they could add the 175 easily, as it’s on the same type.

Pleeeeeeease. I WILL lower myself to begging.

In all seriousness, I have no doubt that airbus would be willing to expand production in order to secure an order from us.

I’d much rather see the 220 but it would take years to build a new line.. we could get 195 starting 2025.

Get in line pal. I’m in front of you for begging.

Tell me Airbus wouldn’t build a whole new facility for an order of 400 A-220s to replace our -700s.

How about Embraer? How much of a discount could we get on several hundred of those things?

yes! Was looking at the 195-e2 last night...a definite -700 replacement. And Breeze already operates the 190 and 195

Well earnings call is in an hour. Hopefully one of the press or analysts ask them if there's a plan B.

If I was in sales at Embraer or Airbus (or any of the big lessors) I'd be sending a bunch of Swag to Dallas with my business card.

Now if only you could get that fantastic and logical plan past the archaic SWA BOD.

I heard Watterson pitched that idea and the BOD told him, “Ya can’t fly it like a -200!”

I used to not want us to buy any small aircraft to supplement our fleet but it looks like the MAX-7 is going to remain a problem and may never even show up so I've changed my opinion. I don't think we need "more" small aircraft, but we do need "some" and we absolutely need to replace our -700s with something more efficient. The MAX-7 isn't here and may never get here, so to ensure profitability we absolutely do need a plane that can actually be delivered that has only 3 FAs and ballpark 140 pax capacity. Just as United has ceased including the MAX-10 in their fleet plans, we need to catch up with not just "plans" but actually purchasing a -700 replacement that can actually be delivered sometime this decade.

I don't care what it is, as long as they put in all the bolts and can be delivered quickly so we can retire all of our NGs as soon as possible. Boeing can't meet either of those requirements at this time so we need to shop across the street.

That would take being able to make a decision, take on GK and the BOD. BoJo can't even attend a Senate hearing concerning his airline.
