Default FCC Permit

I'm preparing to apply for Southwest and getting my credentials in order. I was going to update to my new address on the Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit, but the FCC, in typical government fashion, has made it difficult to do and now I'm being informed I have to pay $35 again. Does SWA care if my old address is on this? Do they even vett it with the FCC? My current employer never cared and we fly international often. Thanks.

Nobody cares. Mine is 20+ years old, multiple airlines later.

I'm hoping it remains legible until I retire.

Agreed. I am convinced at this point it is simply a one time federal tax.

Since my first 121, some 43 years ago, along with a bunch of carriers in the US not once was I required to include my FCC license in my submission packages. Different story for carriers I flew with overseas, however. Still have the same replacement certificate, in my wallet, issued in 1978.

On the other hand, it's a $35 investment on a multi-million dollar career. If it takes one stress away on interview day, probably worth it.

I just had training and they check the radio operator permit and mine had my address from 25 yrs ago and the check airman gave me crap about it.
you only have to pay if you want them to mail you a copy.
Change address and then download copy on pdf and save it and show them that. I stopped carrying my paper one once I got an iPad for work. Even FAA was ok with that.

You have had one hell of a run with check airmen lately.

seriously. The headset guy was a couple yrs back. Had a cKp stop me in the jet bridge as I was getting off , switching crews, to tell me my tie wasnt tied tight enough. I hadn't even made it past the door before he said "hey your tie isnt tied tight". I was literally getting my stuff and leaving.
he the proceeded to tell me how we're the highest paid 737 guys in the world and my tie needs to be tied better.
Has there been a secret ckp meeting lately?
