STD/LTD open enrollment closes Friday...
In case you think you might one day need to medically retire early.

I took RJs advice and went for the whole enchilada. Wasn't what I originally thought I would do, but if I'm out for an extended period of time we might have extraordinary expenses like medical travel or in home health care.

STD and LTD-B. Then, if something god forbid happens, I can decide if it's worth trying to get my medical back or if it's just time to hang up my hat and blazer and ride off into the sunset. 😁

With the new contract in place we are running with big boys and not doing well starting out. Concessions, and then furloughs, if concessions don't work or the economy dips. After all is its being substained with govermernt spending and deficits. This will all collide at some point. Just IMO.

Hat and blazer, Kernal Eeyore?

The way I see the whole STD + LTD B is simple.... it'll cost me roughly 2 TFP per month to get the absolute most coverage possible. I personally have a healthy sick leave bank and I want to be able to draw on it as well to make me whole or better until official retirement. There is no universal way someone goes out on medical... it could be something relatively benign but just enough for the FAA to say "no more class 1 medical for you... you can get a Class 2 or 3, but not 1." Or it could be something bad that doesn't kill you but requires daily health care that the insurance company may fight every step of the way.

2 TFP per month to pay for LTD B + our LOL would ensure I don't saddle my kids with my long-term care should I medical out. It's a no brainer for me.

Economists have predicted 9 of the last 2 recessions, and I highly doubt you're as qualified to do that as an economist.

Airports are packed. Summer travel is going gangbusters. SWA still has plenty of levers they can pull to find new revenue to cover the rising costs that every other airline is also paying. They had 3 years of inflation revenue with pre-inflation labor rates to get their collective heads out of their a$$e$. They'll figure it out or wall street will replace the board with people who can.

FUD, like what you're peddling, is tilting at windmills.
