They pay people to leave. Happens all the time
in terminations that aren't "cut and dried" with pilots who have been here a while. The LGA lady was also a known bad actor and she was also paid to go. Same with the world famous PHX captain with a top gun sounding name.

The pilot in question will get a SBOA and a settlement will be reached.

By the looks of that article, I would say he is lining up his ducks for a nice settlement in lieu of a wrongful termination lawsuit, but that's my cynical side.

Who are these two people?

I guess I haven't been here long enough to know their names.

In Kahuna's defense, the dude with the maverick attitude was let go just prior to COVID. And the incident at LGA with the nosegear collapse happened more than 10 years ago. Lots of new folks on the line (and new incidents to overshadow them) since those two individuals were around.

But in any case, all the rumors about them were true. I flew with Ice Man’s nemesis more than once. “The autopilot is an excuse for poor airmanship!” LOL

For a 4'10" bodybuilder he was a nice enough guy. A little high strung, but hey.. that's a lot of pressure having a blockbuster movie made out of you and your sign language antics and flybys...
