Nice! Not much left to say — your post kind of says it all. Dismissive tone? Check. Me-first attitude? Yep. Blame everyone else while refusing any ownership? Nailed it.
Not at all what I said, but that's your prerogative. I simply stated reasons why FOs might get defensive, reasons why it can be difficult to appease everyone, and reasons why we may have reached this point. I also stated that I have no problem adjusting it if someone asks me to. I have, not a single time in threes years, been told I am any of the things you said I was above, nor have I ever not attempted to get the cabin or CA comfortable.

Fair enough. Just to clarify, I was never suggesting that the Captain’s comfort is what matters most. What I’m trying to get across is that passenger comfort — even if we can’t make everyone happy — should always be our priority.

When I hear things like, “I like it cold like a meat locker,” or “I prefer it warm,” coming from an FO or FA it starts to sound like it’s about personal preference over balance. I’m not advocating for extremes — I’m advocating for a reasonable middle ground that considers everyone on board, especially the people paying to be there.

ANYWAY...

Back to the topic at hand... I've heard around 400 is what they may want to hire next year. I guess retirements and medical outs were higher than planned.

yeah that’s what I heard to but that’s just for the 737. I heard they’re still working out numbers for the A220 and 787

Does that 400 include the 300+ in the hiring pool, or is that in addition to them?

I'm not sure, I'm hearing just total 400 so my guess would be a split between 225 people and poolies from the hiring freeze.

I would be shocked if it was a combined total. That would be pretty aggressive hiring considering everything going on. Don’t get me wrong I would love it, but still would be surprised.

Until we have more clarity on the -7, I wouldn’t expect any big hiring numbers. All our eggs are currently in the -7 basket…

400 total makes sense. It will cover retirements and maybe a little growth in block hours (redeye, etc) without increasing fleet count. Expect another slow year.
