But even without transcon range it's a heck of a nice platform and very customer friendly. I agree that before we venture into more than a handful
of heavies, we need a ~100 seat airplane to go into the myriad of small cities we don't already serve and would NEED to serve to provide incremental feed to the heavy during the slow season. Knoxville, Greensboro, Roanoke, Burlington, Syracuse... you name it. There's opportunity in them thar hills!
The 195E2 is about 90% of a 220, it's cheaper and available right now. Porter seems to like them. I'm not sure why it isn't more popular. Nobody is maxing out the range of the 220 anyway.

The other day, we were in ATL behind Delta A220-300 that was going ATL-SBA. We'd need that capability, and I don't think Embraer has that.

I'm also in the camp that believes the MAX 7 will not happen, and I resigned myself to the fact that we are run by a bunch of paralyzed nincompoops high on hopium and that reality doesn't appear to be their strong suit.

It's all beyond my control. All I can control is my work and saving enough cash for the eventuality that when the wheels finally do come off at some point, I can just retire and be done with this career.

Instead of whining about wrong-sized planes, we could actually FIX that. Pull out some cheap seats, add a few less really nice seats. Hmmm sounds risky to copy what pretty much every other airline including spirit does to make more money...
curious what performance and fuel burn would be if we did that compared to what they said the -7 is? 🤔 Especially at places like SNA, MDW, etc.

The Airbus A220 is about 9% more fuel efficient than a MAX7 (per pax/mile since A220 is slightly smaller). The E-190E2 is about 6% more efficient, but also limits flexibility as it's range is less. I don't have any access to flight plan for the E-190, but I'm guessing DEN-RSW, SBA-BNA, etc where we need the range/perf it wouldn't work out so well. Embarer would be highly motivated to sell some E-190E2s, vs Airbus where they'd like to sell some A220s, but there are still un****ing Bombardier supply chain issues and just aren't building many.

Out-of-the-box idea - Embraer builds a new plane that is a direct 737/A320 competitor with a partner like Sabb or BAE Systems. We order 500 and start getting them in 2030. Boeing took less than 5 years to go from launch to first devliery of the 777 to United, so it can be done.

the Chinese made Comac 919 is a 737/320 replacement jet on market today. Highly doubt we make a deal with the CCP for airframes due to tariffs and other reasons but there’s alternatives on market today. Being a DEN guy I’ve heard for awhile that the -7 had the range to do HNL (not sure that route would compete well against UAL’s 757/767/777 lineup) but it might work for EU or going further south/north.

Just hoping they don’t do more displacements…my schedule sucks about as bad as it can get without doing a forced commute. Hoping for good news…at some point soon.

added benefit to the Comac is the rapid seniority progression when the old farts stroke out after they're told they have to fly a Chinese built airliner. ;-)

No doubt. But with Trump's pet tariff of the day being Brazil at 50%, I don't see those coming in at a price point we'd be happy with.
