Yall see the vacancy projection map in the latest crew planning video? The math ain’t mathin or am I wrong?

in recurrent we were told a new base is in fact coming, but what city and when is still TBA, bets on either MCI or AUS with how many DEN is losing over the next 6 months.

They keep saying they don't want a TPA or S. FL base because they don't want storms taking out 2 bases. Guess they've never seen spring weather in TX if they're actually considering AUS. I can't wait to pop a bag of popcorn next April/May as the email pleas for people to pick up OT hits a fever pitch as 3 bases get shut down. STL/MCI would make the most sense....MCI considering the new terminal and airport not run by no talent clowns (like STL) would have the edge for me.

MCI and AUS both make sense than STL.

STL going from 16 RON a/c currently to 13-14 next year, meanwhile MCI increases from 15 to 16. AUS goes from 15 to 18 by next April.

STL airport authority is notoriously difficult to deal with (although so is MNAA and that didn’t stop the BNA base from opening)

AUS and MCI will have more RON a/c than ATL, BNA, LAX, and OAK.

SMF and SAN could easily work as bases, question is if the company wants to deal with California labor rules and regulations any more than they have to.

Interesting. I vote whatever people would put above LAX because I just wanna get home from BWI.

Part of what’s driving BWI so junior is the fact that so many new hires were coming from SkyWest. Very few people from an airline with “west” in its name want to be based in BWI or MCO.

Maybe we’ll hiring some more east coast guys this time around.

Other airlines are opening bases to attract pilots. And although hiring is going to be slow here for a while, it would make sense to open a popular base (Austin) vs another poo-hole (MCI or God forbid - STL). So ya... don't expect that kind of logical thinking here. They're more likely to open Scranton or Toledo. Or maybe East Palestine, OH. Because it's what they do. Until Dallas gets a good enema, expect more stupidity.

lol. In my case, Southwest was the first and only to call…so far.

The ****tiest part has been seeing guys get into LAX who were not even displaced from their base but just want to get some ETOPs flying in. Since ROR only applies to vacancies this has been happening. I get it, seniority is key and it’s their right. But it sucks to see.

That's an interesting assertion.

Now that's the funniest post on here in a while. Pilot think. That's exactly how crew planning decides a base. Pilots are not allowed in the room for a reason. That's almost as a good as "we should do more flying out of X airport because it has long runway's". Love it.

Why else would UA have opened MCO and LAS?
