Can we just purchase this already? It can do inter-island, connect our small markets to our domiciles, and there isn’t a long wait list to get…

Never say never. We're about the only one who could operate them. To the Big 3, it's an RJ that's too big for their scope clauses, yet too small for the mainline.

My understanding is that GTF are poorly suited for short stage / high frequency ops like interisland.

We would want an aircraft with a CFM Leap variant. 1-2% better fuel burn on the PW1500G/1900G isn't worth having a different engine. If we ordered 500, you'd think Embraer would make it happen.

Even better would be if Embraer partners with another unaffiliated company like Saab and does a true 737/A320 competitor with CFM Leap engines that could span the A220-300 to 737-9 and has a range of 4500nm in an LR version.

Which also reduces resale value. Lots that goes into a decision like this.

Another narrowbody A/C here would be a mistake.

Parley the Max7 delay debacle into a sweetheart deal with Boeing for accelerated delivery of 787s.

Cost of additional fleet type is offset by the margins of the 78.

Imagine a 12-16 hour flight with all economy and nothing but cokes and Maui onion snacks for the pax.

You mean Omni Air, on the way to/from theater?

Apparently both GTF and leap are poorly suited to inter-island stage length. But boeing does still make a 737 with CFM-56 engines...
