Default SWA interview information?

Post your interview ride reports here

I have an interview mid October. Looking for the latest information on it. Working with an interview prep team at ECIC but want as much information as possible.

Don’t get too prepped. “ I wouldn’t practice too much just go be friendly and have a conversation.

100% this. Most people try to be perfect and give scripted answers that interview panels can see right through. Those who relax and are themselves stand out.

If you've never done an interview with TMAAT questions, prep can be a good thing. Some pilots have had plenty a practice at the airline interview game, but often pilots that came from corporate/135 got many roles just on knowing the right person (my career before SWA) are weak at interviewing.

You should have a story ready to go for these scenarios:

Conflict in cockpit/workplace
Made a mistake/broke a rule
Leadership under pressure.
Exceptional service
Difficult decision / no right answer decision

When the question comes, you'll want to be able to shape your story to fit the question. For example, the difficult decision question can be asked many different ways...you want to take a moment and ensure your story fits the question which may not be your exact story verbatim. Interview prep can also help you "shape" your story that make sure it's appropriate and will put you in the best light. Often the conflict story can have issues - I've heard a interviewees "conflict" story and been convinced they were the problem and the other pilot was in the right.

Bottomline...whatever you do...make sure the stories are your stories.

Interviewed late in 2023 and did not do prep either. I was a mostly corporate guy and they loved hearing stories from that side of aviation. Cannot stress it enough to be yourself and prove to them that this is what you want. After being here for a bit now this is the best job I’ve ever had. Hoping to ride this out until retirement but as always have to be ready in case this industry has other plans.

Default omission on application

Thank you for the good answers, especially simplified questions for the ‘tell me about a time’ sorting.
I’m doing prep for that.

I made an omission about a training failure on the application. Didn’t result in a pink slip, but it was definitely an eval ride for aircraft transition (metroliner) under part 135. Retrained and did not pass re-eval, rechecked in current aircraft and resumed duty. Will only come up in the logbook review, not in PRIA PRD FAA. If I could go back and change the app, I would but it’s not possible.
Anyone know the format of the interview panel? Is there an opportunity to admit an application error / make a correction early in the interview and if so, is it the kiss of death?

It’s my only training issue ever, I am practiced at explaining why occurred, what I learned from it and then why it takes me a better pilot today. Just wish I had included it on the application.

off topic, does anyone know where to go for a copy of the current SWA CBA?

TIA!

When I interviewed in ... 2019 they asked "Why do you want to work at Southwest?" three different times. So have a good answer loaded and ready.
