Anyone remember how many months heads up they announced BNA before it opened? We’re like 2 weeks away from the Feb vacancy bid and the March is supposed to be the big shakeup. I’d guess they’d announce it in the next few weeks for a March open.

It hasn’t even been a week, this post didn’t age well.

Few weeks?

Governor Abbott is making an announcement at AUS today….. alongside Bob Jordan.

which makes me wonder if it’s more than a crew base? How many governors have been involved with previous base announcements?

mx hangar? Training facility? The financial incentive is for employees who live in Austin…

A lot of set up for 2026. BJ on CNBC confirming lounges, BJ talking first class again at the Wings Club and expecting the Max 7 certification by summer with entering service by 1st quarter of 2027. Stock is up 25% in a month and is touching a 52 week high. WTF? Hopefully EM begins to unwind. EM bought shares at about $28.00. It’s now almost $42.00. It would be really nice if SWA expands operating margins and generates free cash flow. Which would make these initiatives worth it.

What do you think the consequences of that action will be?

SAT made a choice, and that choice was DL. It's just business. I am sure that concessions will be extracted in some form. SWA isn't going to just lay down and cede a massive market with lots of full fare military/govt tickets to Delta out of spite because they got some new gates.

SWA clearly got a win in AUS. I am interested to see what this unlocks in the way of freeing the airline up from their current hemmed in status in Dallas and how that is hobbling the network.

Guess I missed that part! Guess I’ll check the meme page later today and see what was announced.

I’d like to see ‘18, ‘19, ‘21 type PS numbers again….

Sounds crazy, but not so much in the medium to longer term. SW needs some connecting hubs and AUS will be growing gate capacity at a rate at which SW might be able to get more and varying sized aircraft. In TX SW enjoys customer loyalty/FFs and in AUS a substantial market leadership position (42%, AA: 16%, DL: 15%, UA: 12%) and political influence.
