Plus it can't take affect until all IT stuff that is required by the CBA is implemented....in 2028. So they have to amend that by SWAPA/SWA. I don't think at the moment that would go over well with the pilot group.
Thanks. I was too lazy to look it up and relying on my dim memory. It’s on brand that the only bases listed are irrelevant to today’s plan and our inability to transform at a pace faster than a snail (unless a very senior exec thinks he might be booted) is a limiting factor. So, in summary- yes it’s easier to open and close bases.

Hoisted by our own petard.

I don't know when you'll get the official announcement from SW. Probably not too long, they have set things in motion apparently.
Please clarify where you get your information, confirm it is a supposition by you or just BS.

No side letters until they fix the mess they caused with staffing.

Asking honestly, do you really think it will go that way?

Amongst international scope relief, built in island scope relief, new airframe, I truly wonder how much negotiating power we actually have.

Does “truly wonder” mean that you doubt that we have negotiating power? And if so, would your assertion be that the other side does hold it?

If I was guessing, I'd say so.

Not BS, I don't just make up random stuff to stir the pot. I will say that I have no connections inside SWA, but airlines can't just open a crew base at an airport without the involvement of non-company people...

I do know that it's a crew base, so I guess that could be FA-only with no pilots. If that's something that SW even does. You know the odds of that better than I do.

Which brought down earnings this past quarter as well as forecasting a loss in the first quarter. Very rare for ALK. It will be short lived as ALK pivots and redeploys those airplanes to potential better yielding markets as well as streamlining the fleet(rid of 717's and A321's). Mergers are very expensive, time consuming and require much effort by mangement to put together. So SWA definitely sees some openings. It's not a coincidence that SWA is opening a 12,000 square foot, two floor lounge in HNL. Remember, airlines are required to report 10% of their fares to the DOT. Modeling does the rest. So SWA knows what is bleeding and what is profitable. All airlines do this. SWA has a 33% market share vs ALK's 12%(3rd) in SAN. Either way, SWA opening a base or not in SAN doesn't really change those dynamics. Operationally though, single runway operation? Don't know but SWA decision's these days doesn't surprise me.
I don't think either airline opening a base changes the dynamic, other than showing a commitment to growth in the market.

And AS is a close second at SAN, not 3rd (that probably counts the RJ feed, which does matter for competitiveness). It is formally an AS hub.

I’ve seen quite a few well thought out and informed posts from you in other areas, but to go from….

“I wasn't speculating, I was telling you guys, it's SAN.

Official announcement to follow. Start shopping for crashpad boats now.”

….to your most recent post seems pretty ridiculous and troll….e. But at least you seemed to pull back a bit this time and maybe that was meant to be humorous.

For clarity, I'm dead serious, not pulling back. Confirmed this evening it is in fact a pilot base.

The crashboat comment was intended to be humorous, the pilot base part was not.
