Giant wet dream, 2nd type. There isn't a narrowbody available in any reasonable time frame off the assembly line, unless you're talking about a merger and absorbing a fleet type. A widebody is SWA economic suicide, we lack any fortress hub to feed it (re Alaska Seattle for example) we have no cultural knowledge of a premium cabin, any flying we do across the Atlantic or Pacific would be a rounding error in the big scheme, Delta or United put more seats across the oceans before lunch than we could do in a month. Yay London Stansted twice a day from Baltimore! Money bleeding disaster

Maybe, maybe not. This isn't something that happens overnight. Hypothetically, they would test it with interline/codeshares and then slowly dip into it. BWI, AUS, ONT, MCO come to mind. Long way to go but just in the last year this company has come a long way.

The E2, technologically a great plane, burdened by high seat mile and acquisition costs. JetBlue and Breeze dumped em for the A220, Porter in Toronto flying them all over N America at a giant loss

This company culturally doesn't like anything new. Still can't accept foreign currency of any kind, not a international carrier at all just flies American tourists to beach destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico. Most of the legacy leadership in Dallas are actually sorry we make so much money in California, that's a stretch for them

Naww we made steps to kill that whole “no foreign currency hurr durr” meme last year. Interline agreements and the Hahnair partnership. Waterson talked about it last year.

Honestly... this is the whole point of the interline agreements.

years 1-5 you get 2 weeks, bidding for next year happens in September ish.

After year 5 you get an additional week, I can't remember when you max our vacation, but we have a total of 5 weeks. Best part about line bidding and our vacation pull system is you can turn one week in 3.5 if you're smart, or you can manage to pull in 65TFP with your block, the choice is yours.

Our vacation system is VERY good. Nobody executes consecutive weeks of vacation simply because every week of vacation will net you 2 weeks off at a minimum. It also pays quite well. If you stagger weeks, you can easily get a full month off with your 2 weeks that you get as a junior pilot.

The bidding system is controversial and is changing from one system that is not great to another system that is also not great, but that’s the very short version of events that are rooted in some dirty union politics. In the end after everything is said and done and the weeks all shake out in trading, you can always get the time off you need and get compensated very well for it. I suspect once the new bidding system goes into effect and the initial churn is done, the final outlay of weeks will look very similar to what we have now.

We bid in September, but if you are in your first year, you will get a week or less (prorated) assigned during new hire.
