WN CFO announces retirement in August and general counsel yesterday. Both look fairly young to be retiring. What's up at the GO?

Don't know.

Just my two cents here, but Gary K. is going to run out of people to "hold responsible" (i.e. terminate) for the current state of the company (AirTran, -800's, etc.) . . . . . the board of directors will eventually be coming after him.

Yes, the industry has fundamentally changed in the last 10/20 years, but we need a true "Warrior" like Herb K. back in the saddle. Watching a bean counter count beans is about as inspiring as watching paint dry. Unfortunately the entrepreneurial spirit and fight of a founder of any company, can never be replicated in successive generations of leadership.

Welcome to our world. When I was hired at PI, SW was that nice little airline out in TX that we only saw every once in a while. WE were the fastest growing airline in the country. Just a few years later the beanie weenies that bought my company and were running it said we couldn't compete with that tiger. They wanted your contract then, but now? "We wouldn't be able to compete!"

Well, there is only one way off the mountain. Just ask, Pan Am, Eastern, TWA, AA, Delta, United, etc.

Only question is how far you fall?????????

I think it all comes back to the fuel hedges. They allowed SWA to undercut the industry with explosive growth. Now that you don't have that advantage, SWA is like every other carrier except that you haven't gone into bankruptcy ... yet.

I know how we are different from every other carrier . . . . . we don't outsource our flying to regionals.
