Boeing offers the gauge displays option on the NG's for the ease of transition. We probably asked for that.

Slightly off topic but has anyone heard what the MAX's overhead will be like?

I've set my hopes low:

1) Replace all the 687-powered annunciator lights with LEDs (less heat.)

2) Separate sound effects for the takeoff config and cabin altitude warnings

...but I'm standing by to be disappointed. :o

I have heard that the FAA has said that as soon as the first MAX shows up we won't be allowed to fly the Classic, NG, and MAX together in one bid group. So theoretically the remaining Classics will be sent to HOU & DAL.

However, with regard to #1 above, if they make the overhead 777-like I doubt that they'd be able to sneak it in under the same type. Who knows, but you're smart for not holding your breathe.

Also heard that the MAX will have crosshair FDs and the NGs will be flipped over to them as well. Don't know, don't care, just bring that effing overhead up to date for crying out loud.

The Classics were going to be retired sooner, so they decide not to do the LAD. Then we bought AirTran. A while later the 717 were going away. -300's staying longer to help replace the 88 B717 that are leaving.

Back in October, I was a volunteer for a Boeing study in Seattle. According to a Boeing guy, the overhead will not be like the newer Boeing designs. He said if they did, the Feds would require a new type rating.
