Default 2015 Vacation Bidding?

Can anyone explain how 2015 vacation bidding works for the ATN folks in SWA training? If you are #20 in a training class of 20, do you just get whats left over in that mini-bid? I reference the new FLICA message about 2015 accrued vacation which says "Pilots awarded conversion training in 2014 or earlier will not be eligible. They will bid for 2015 vacation during conversion training in Dallas, TX."

It means you can expect a Sept, Oct, Jan, Feb, or Apr vacation award. The first-round bidding is already over for 2015. The block-bidders went through the smorgasbord first and left slim pickings for everyone else. Our vacation bidding system is in bad need of an overhaul (it disproportionately benefits the super-senior, IMHO) and there is a lot of discussion about it on the line and within SWAPA these days.

What he said is not correct. You are only bidding with the members of your class.

You will be given a sheet your 1st day in class and a presentation from Crew Planning.

You have xx number of slots for your whole class. Every week of 2015 is available (at least one slot) and SWA does round-robin awards.

Even at 20 out of 20, you will get at least one of the weeks you want.

Thanks Matt, I stand corrected (happens often when I speak out of my a$$). What I described is the scenario that you can look forward to next year if some needed reforms are not implemented.

No sweat. I was happily surprised to learn that was the procedure.

Hopefully before it becomes a problem again, there will be a new contract. I know, I know...

After the way we've been treated, I plan on taking vacation whenever it's convenient for me.

I'm sure the guys who ran away from AT and came into the front door at SWA feel exactly the same way!
