We had several regional guys in our class, most were Skywest.. All were captains with several years in the left seat, many as check airmen.

Seems like there's not a lot of corporate/part 91 pilots that get hired....is that a reflection of the Southwest hiring preferences? Or is that more a product of the overall applicant pool being predominantly 121/military guys?

Has anyone had any small corporate or part 91 guys in their classes?

Default Southwest Hiring Info 2016

I was part 91. The class that starts tomorrow has at least one part 91 and one 91k pilot attending.

The trick for 91 folks is to show some management experience. Just flying doesn't seem to do the trick. (Ymmv)

I was hired from a pure Pt 91 department: CL604, GIV, GV, Global, and BBJ. Every other civilian only pilot in my class was a CP or LCA.

What was posted above is correct, you need to have something to set you apart on your app. In my case, I think it was dumb luck to get the call for an interview.

Now this is a few years back, but I remember hearing about a guy who got hired with no college, and nothing but a ton of fixed-wing single-engine turboprop crop duster time (and of course he went and got the -73 type as well). Good for him!

I was 91 from a single-aircraft department, however was 121 in the past at a regional.

There will be interviews throughout all of 2016. There are multiple new hire classes scheduled every month of the year.

To each his own.
So what happened? Did the guy who left class for UA get his spot back at SW or did they cut him loose?
