How much TT to get call?

I've searched here but can't find.

I don't rack up the PIC very fast because I teach in the sim, only have about 1200 TPIC, about 11K TT.

anyone getting called to interview with less than 2000TT? I've heard that's an unspoken minimum.

thx

Looking at The Who's been hired thread, the last couple people that posted SWA CJO's had less than 2000 TPIC.

I think he was talking about what is competitive, not what is the minimum.

I was 8500ish 1500 and change tpic 4 year degree average gpa internal job fair in September no lca and started sim yesterday. My class was 50-50 mil civilian with one guy returning from long term medical. Only 5-6 have the type 28 total in class. The class that started this week seems to have a very similar make up although I don't know he number with or without type.

What is the general age range of your class?

Most junior in mine was 33yrs. I'd say average age is 40ish.

thrustset100 01-13-2017 10:20 AM

Rocky said 5500TT as of a month and a half ago and 1100 TPIC.

If he is averaging civilian and military TT to get that number it's wildly inaccurate. In my class the civilians ranged from 7500-11000 TT.

What is the millitary flight time range in your class?

Thanks in advance for all the information.

at6d 01-13-2017 05:19 PM

The average TT in my class in late 2015 was 7000, and 18 of 26
Had the type.

Lowest time was about 2000, mil guy.

How long ago was your class?

NVPilot 01-13-2017 09:25 PM

Age was 30-55 average probably low 40s. I turned 35 first week of class and had 4 junior to me.

If you meet the mins, you have a chance. Keep updating your times, but also be sure to verify that your medical date is correct; your update should include last date flown.

MudhammedCJ 01-15-2017 06:07 PM

Time averages for mil/civ seem to have not changed much over the last 5 or 10 years. You have to take them each individually. Civ is around 8000 tt average (+/-) by all accounts. The turbine pic number doesn't seem to matter as long as it is at least 1000. You can get in with less but you need some other status to get pulled by the computer. Average line pilot with 3000-4000 hours generally won't do it. You might be an aberration, or the numbers might (will) trend down as qualified applicants dry up, but that is the story presently.

Keep the updates going in and make sure your resume and cover letter are top notch! It matters to SWA.

saab2000 01-15-2017 11:06 PM

I had just under 11,000 total time and 6800 turbine PIC when I got the call. Interviewed in December and start class in February. Looking forward to the next adventure!

Additionally, I have the the 737 type rating from my current job. I'm sure that didn't hurt but it seems to be much less important now.

Me either.

The pilot resume guy is just spamming each thread trying to get business.

FLY6584 01-20-2017 09:04 PM

I was hired a year and a half ago with 2300 TT and 1650 TPIC. Mil and civ with the type.

Bushmaster09 01-20-2017 10:44 PM

8500 TT
4000 121 turbine PIC
4 year Degree
Widebody international time (but no 737 type)
Been begging for an interview there for at least the past 5 years and really losing hope:(

I think there is a lot of us in that boat:( I have a little more time, been Int'l for 11 years now after regional captain and been updating regularly for about 3 years now. For a long time I was only applying to SWA as it would be the best quality of life, I truly believed in the great SWA corporate enviro, and I have a descent job now, but that attitude is over and applying to 5 airlines I could have a good career with.

I don't think flying experience has anything to do with getting an interview anymore. I've been to a few job fairs in the last year and SWA keeps telling me "everything looks good, and to keep updating."

The whole thing has become quite the joke IMO.

Pffft! Silly man. 11 years heavy jet international time does not necessarily qualify you to be a SWA pilot. Go get some time flying a single seat fighter in a non-multicrew, non-airline environment into non-high density airports and see how quickly you'll get picked up

All while traveling at speeds you have never operated at, and pulling G's that would have taking a nap. ****. This job isn't hard, took about 3 months to figure it out. Get over yourself.

Bahahaha. All of which relates directly to part 121 operations, right kernel? That "G pulling" is obviously something many of you can't let go of judging by how you taxi and throw the FAs and pax around just to name one example.

You'll excuse me if I don't think a guy with 2-3,000 hours in a single seat fighter should be getting hired ahead of the thousands of RJ Cptns out there with 10,000+ hours, most of which have been spent hauling paying passengers around in a multicrew environment to high density airports. Ya know.......basically already doing the job they're applying for.

Give me a break

Tenacvols 01-26-2017 07:54 AM

3100 TT

Retired military, prior 121 experience

Just got the CJO today!!!

The Dock 01-26-2017 08:47 AM

Aaaaand for every F-16 Kernal out there, it seems there is also a Civi-tool like whack that can't seem to let it go.
I think we all have earned our spot here.
Kinda like the AirTran merger/acquisition, you just can't seem to let it go.
But hey, you keep doing you. I am sure everyone who has to listen to you thinks you are great.
