I am all for standing together and singing kumbaya but this is taking to too far. Posting peoples names on a public forum is unethical and discriminatory. YOU have no idea the life circumstances of ANY of these individuals! Each person has the right to choose how they lead their lives and in NO WAY do we have the right to judge them for it. If someone wants to use their 5 JRMs or take all the phone calls, releases or MUP they are offered that is their choice.
You think this helps us get closer to a contract? By tearing ourselves apart? Management loves this stuff, keeps us fighting between ourselves. At the last pub event I attending two pilots almost came to blows. Ridiculous! How can we expect to be paid and treated like professionals when we act like children not getting what they want? What life circumstances? It's a union by the way and they are violating the contract not taking their 5 jrms. On rsv and on the standing avail list. Sometimes it takes a little peer pressure to get unified. It's not divisive imo, it's tough love. |
Thanks for the lack of professionalism. For being a 19 year ALPA member, LEC representive, 7 year Safety Chairman, etc. it would have been nice to be told if I was doing something wrong. I dropped two Reserve days in April and wanted to get those two days back. I made myself available on those two days. I removed myself after being told that I can't do that. I hope if anyone else on this list doesn't know that they would be called or sent a message. It's pretty low to call someone out without knowing the real intentions. I came from an airline that was ALPA and didn't have a contract that was remotely close to ours. I think a lot of us are still learning the ins and outs of it.
My name has been corrected and is not on that list. |

I was called by a friend yesterday and told that I cannot list to get my days of Reserve back. I removed it from the SA yesterday immediately so as not to get blamed from any wrong doing. Obviously, it didn't help from someone's lack of professionalism.

THIS is what I mean by posting without knowing the circumstances.
If it was an honest mistake it looks like the list did its job and he corrected the violation after committing it unknowingly even after an email about it came from the SPSC committee yesterday |

These are pilots violating the contract, a contract that we are trying to enforce while management picks at it, line by line, section by section. You deserve no "protection" when you choose to violate a CBA that you are required to follow. You can be kicked out of ALPA and then fired for abusing the contract? Do some of you guys even realize that? You think there is a reason for that? Its to keep fools in line and not undercut their fellow pilots, which these pilots are doing. And for the record I give ZERO care to people and their "situation" and it being an excuse to bend/break the rules. 1500+ pilots on this list, all with their own "situations," being dealt with, and the majority doing it within the bounds of the contract. Serious medical issues, bills, need help? We have a process for that and it doesnt include selling your pilots out to get it. |

The max out of pocket on our medical plans is about $7500 for a family. If you are on the HRA plan the company kicked in $3000 assuming you rolled over no money from the previous year so you are only on the hook for $4500. That's a catastrophic year, as bad as it can get. Of those bills you are responsible you can successfully negotiate those down in most cases by talking to the biller. I would wager that you could bring that $4500 down to about $3000. That's less than a six month FA got in signing bonus and we aren't even in the same universe as to what we are negotiating for (rightfully so). $3000 as bad as it gets. Don't give me this medical bills excuse. It's weak. Now if you are coming back from Short or long term disability I can see how you may have encountered some real hardship from lack of income and maybe I can give a pass for choking on gravy within the bounds of the contract which there are many ways. Don't really see a reason to be violating the contract though Edit to add: the company you are violating the contract for wants to gut that healthcare. |
