Quote: The investors know, the BOD knows, the the guy who vacuumes the hallways at HQ knows. Doing a strike vote when negotiations are still taking place makes us look emotional...........which we are. Patience
What mgt, bod, and the analysts know is that a strike vote means nothing to them unless we get released, which is a long time off. If we took one now or in a year, it won't matter to them. What 99% of the public doesn't know about is the RLA and the significance of a vote. All they know is the pilots want to go on strike and maybe not risk ruining their vacation by purchasing a ticket on us. At a time when mgt cares about the image of the airline, waiting on a vote is only hurting us. Strike vote now and follow it up with billboards and newspaper ads.

Quote: This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. "The company wants us to strike"?

What? Really?
It's not dumb. Look at it from their perspective. Spirit has a lot more cash on hand then when we walked for five days in 2010. Spirit will be just fine for at least that long. We're already the least favorite airline and our planes are full. Spirit won't suffer from bad PR. But we, the pilots, (from management's perspective) will start to break down after a few days. We'll get desperate, scared. They'll threaten to shut the place down; sell every asset (except us) and cash out. We will be grateful (in management's mind) for any deal they offer.

It may well be their plan to use our threat of a strike against us. I'm not saying it would work, but it may be their plan. Yeah, it's outside the box, but we should be prepared for outside the box tactics. Anyone who remembers Contract 9000 should understand this.

Good guys don't always win just because they're good guys. They have a much better chance if they can think like bad guys.

This is a public company this time. The meltdown of 2015 cost them $64 million and the airplanes were still moving. This airline coming to a hault would cost them exponentially more and they owe it to the shareholders not to let that happen. When we get released they absolutely will come to the table with an industry standard contract to save their own hides. It's their strategy anyway. Stall as long as possible and then sign the deal they know they have to in the eleventh hour. Their only strategy now is to figure out how to keep stalling while appearing to be negotiating. Getting released is how we get our contract.

They don't want a strike I can assure you

Management must be selling the investors that we are a "soft" group.
Their claims of a "cost neutral" offer, indicate that.

Selling the board that many new folks straight out of regional hell, are happy to be here, flying that NEO and upgrade "quickly"

Passing that b.s. LOA by 70%, giving away 3 days of paid GS, and all drops associated...sure sent the wrong message and was a low point.

Ex-Chair giving them relief when they needed it most...amateurish at best.

Chokers still answering the phone...
One JA pick up is one too many, unacceptable at this point.

We need to educate each other and talk to crews, aiming for the passionate responses exhibited here.

A 100% Strike vote would send a STRONG message.
Although not applicable until released.

WE MUST SHOW these slave runners that WE ARE NOT SOFT!

When the time is right, STRIKE VOTE by 100%

This is absolutely correct and why we need to have the strike vote now. Would you buy tickets on an airline that as far as you knew, could strike at any time? I bet this was instrumental in bringing hawaiian to the table. I don't see what we are waiting for. The company clearly has no intention of negotiating in good faith or giving us a reasonable contract. STRIKE VOTE NOW!

Agree...

FLL passengers remember the strike and some may have had their vacations interrupted by it.

Posting a billboard that say "99% of Spirit Pilots voted to go on strike" driving around FLL would gain traction.

Google "Hawaiian Airlines pilot strike" and see how that was picked up.

We know we wont get released after a strike vote, the traveling public does not.

My only guess is they will time a strike vote prior to the booking of the busy summer travel season, as they should.

Would be nice if they held a strike vote now with voting closing / results posted the day of the hanger opening, or wait until the day before the next earnings call.

Yeah buddy. All about the timing. I'm sure we'll see things ratchet up in the next month

I feel like this is the best idea yet. As someone who just joined this board, we need to get more guys and gals 'integrated' and up to speed.

For example, myself. As a commuter with an 18 month old at home I've been habitually running to and from the plane. I dont live in base so without effort of my own there is no comradery or sense of purpose.

We need to focus on further polarizing the pilot group and getting people 'off the couch' and into the game
