That is an excellent question.

I took that email as a threat. Cover all the open trips or we will cancel negotiations again.

I took it more as a cry for help. Not that that's any better.

Is definitely the question of the day! I think Bob would be better off simply zipping it! There's always a part of me that would like to bite on the b.s. yet: "fool me once shame on you, fool me ten times (yes I'm slow and too trusting) shame on me"!

I have a question also.......is there any pilot here that has actually had conversations with Bob? As he stated "in talking with many of us" is how he learned of our theory of understaffing attributing to lack of coverage. Are you sure you didn't read it here Bob?!

My wife read the email and also thinks he addresses us as mindless children.

I really love the way he spins things as if he's giving us the key to the city. "we demonstrated our commitment last week by adding add'l bargaining days" "need you to demonstrate your commitment". Gotta be honest.....(again he should just zip it), I now am slighting towards the idea he's dangling a carrot to get us through the summer. Hope I'm wrong.

I have an idea......if your really concerned of covering all the trips, how about 200% for all open time for the summer. I guarantee all open time will disappear!

Exactly! I seem to recall the same amount of crappy trips in OT last summer . Why would anybody want to pick up undesirable trips at below industry straight pay on YOUR DAY OFF?? I have never flown for straight pay on my day off and I'm not gonna start now. FUPM!

Emphasis added by me: 200% in the form of a new CBA. Otherwise, it's lipstick on a pig. Don't be so easily duped.

Exactly, 200% for straight pickups is not in the contract and would be a violation for them to offer. That would have to be an LOA to the current contract or language in a newly ratified CBA

My wife also read the email and without me saying anything she said she's never head a management group talk down to their employees as much as ours does to us.

Disclaimer: This was her unsolicited opinion and may or may not be fact

I understand and agree. I was more going at it from a hypothetical standpoint......knowing this will never take place anyway. Really counter to their typical method of manipulation instead. At brand x (not during negotiations) in heavy times they would offer temporary premium pay. Here they don't even want it negotiated into the contract! Rather just continue to coerce.

Agreed. I should've been more clear that I didn't mean you expressly.

It was more of a generalization that we (all of us) shouldn't accept anything less than a new CBA representative our contribution to the operation and commiserate our peers. A "bail us out, premium pick-up" during negotiations isn't gonna cut it.
