LAX base

Hi guys,

I am about to start training soon at Spirit and my buddy that is in new hire class right now said that they have been told the LAX base will be announced this coming Tuesday. Any idea if this will go senior or Junior and if senior how long you think it should take to get it.

Also any details of the new IND, STL, and UIO routes that are being added beginning next year. Thanks guys.

Hey!!! Buddy!!!

It'll go senior AF. Garunteed 5+ years to hold LAX. We're all super excited about the new IND and STL overnights so those will also go senior AF. Did your friend say anything about the 330 order? CAK- Buenas Aires starting next spring.

Go Spirit!!!

OzarkALPilot 10-07-2017 03:40 AM

Lax and 330

1st 330 delivery is in March. High fives for all.

That's funny. I was at corporate recently and was told that an LAX base is never going to happen. "The labor rules in LAX are [too complicated]..." read, it's too expensive... FWIW. However, if there is a LAX base it will definitely go senior. Lot of pilots already living out there that came here when they heard about the coming LAX base 3-5 years ago, oh, and Seattle base too.

Good luck in training.

Wow, a new hire with super secret info. I must have missed the email.

Actually all 330 orders have been modified and we are now getting 380's. The seat configurations will be 880 Pax on those bad boys.:)

Limiting the capacity to 880 saves them from hiring an additional flight attendant. Genius!!

1 Captain & 2 FOs = $9 fare club to Japan. The 2-3 meals will be pricey.

I know this was tounge and cheek and since you don't work here I'd like those that do to refrain from discussing scope or contract topics.

You have to understand that mgmt trolls the new hires something fierce. There is no current talk of an LAX base and if there was, it would go senior... as others have said.
C-series, contract next week, SW rates, 2 yr upgrade, highest paid Airbus driver per hour due to all the soft time, etc. All rumors.

Tranquility 10-07-2017 03:15 PM

I thought MCO was the most recent (many months ago) rumor, are we back to LAX again?? Or, are we going backwards through the rumored base list?? MCO->LAX->ATL->PHL->BWI->IAH->MSP.... I’m sure I’m missing a few.... :D

BWI 100% for sure! Close that dead ACY base down. LAX? Got it covered with the LAS base. Management will spew misinformation to further the cause of hiring anyone they can. Ask all the IAH guys that were told IAH would be a base very soon. That was 2+ years ago.

HaHa, true man. The "tounge and cheek" statement made it seem serious.

who made you King of APC------see how alpa is trying to keep us quiet so they can control the narrative and get us to accept the company's offer....you screwed us last time alpa, you won't do it again. enjoy those telephone poles...3rd times a charm

There is no trying to keep us quiet, it's a matter of trying to keep unified. Have you ever seen a football team win where all the players are running different plays every down? That wouldn't work so well. Have you talked to BC lately to ask about what the plans are; because there are plans.

Halon1211 10-08-2017 02:37 PM

If you ask the Spirit ticket agents in LAX where the crew room will be, they will point it out to you...they are getting it operational right now (moving in chairs, computer, etc.) I was just there today and talked to them.

Oh just like the new crew room in MCO about 4 months ago. LOL

Did they happen to mention when the announcement would be?

Dang, you don't even work here yet and you have all the latest secret info. Did you also happen to hear when the new AC orders will be announced or when the contract will be done? You are either gullible or a troll and the Spirit group needs neither.

The guy that doesn't quite work here yet is in the know....
This will be funny if it's actually true.
Did the gate agent mention anything about more aircraft orders? Or are we just about done growing.

Not how it works here, sorry dude. We pull the trigger then prepare. Once opened two bases (LGA and SJU) based on high hotel costs, only for the bean counters to realize months later that they never accounted for the additional reserve coverage costs. Hundreds of thousands of losses and a few months later those bases closed.

If we do get a base (LAX or otherwise), we'll announce it first then start looking for real estate. Chairs and computers? Please, our largest base doesn't even have those.

Macjet 10-09-2017 07:15 PM

Well, we did find out about the GoJet flow via Facebook so.....

However, I was told by a FA trainer that the LAX would open for sure January 1, 2016. I still don't have the door code...

I was talking with a Check Airman today and apparently the anouncement has been delayed until 11/3. Not sure why.

I heard Spirit is going to base the MRJs out of there. Maybe the new trade sanctions with North Korea are delaying the deliveries/base opening? Who knows, it's all speculation at this point.

All we can hope is that it happens soon.

NoCheesePlates 10-09-2017 08:13 PM

I talked to Ron Beentoldshiet today and he assured me the LAX base was a done deal. A new hangar is coming up to be named "The Bob" and will be a major hub for the upcoming 737 Max 8's that are coming.

Also, an in depth passenger survey has been completed and the snack boxes are being updated. The Wheat Thins are being replaced by animal cookies and the smoked cheese in the cheese plates are being replaced by Munster. Look for the wet nap to be reintroduced to the boxes as well.

I wish I had more to report but Ron was in a rush. The large woman who drives the super shuttle in IAH was threatening to leave him at the curb.

Wet nap=litter, Animal crackers? Are you serious? We're trying to open a California base here. It's only ok to eat animals, it's not ok to kill. Maybe the crackers will be in the form of a turkey burger or salmon loaf. That's ok to eat right? The cleaner I spoke to yesterday assured me that the base will be opening by 11/15.

Has anyone spoken with a crew scheduler lately to confirm this?
